Artist's Comments

These are the main characters for my next project.
I know everything about this is pretty rough, I did it in a couple minutes just to get the design and color scheme down.
Please tell me what you think, and if you have any input, please tell me!

Okay, advanced critique (from left to right):
1. He's probably my favorite, but something about his pants/boots meeting doesn't look right. Also, I can't tell if he has no chest or a beer belly. Either erase those black lines on his shirt or make the proportion better.
2. It looks like she has like no muscles. Also (there is no way to nicely say this), her breasts seem to point in different directions, which is not natural. As for her shoes, I can't tell if their shoes or sandals, clarity there would help.
3. Too long of a coat and again stomach problems with those lines. Also his right arm seems unnatural to be leaving the white space hanging at the side like that.
4. She's my least favorite. She has no knees and her upper body is not lined up with her legs. Also, I was never one to like that "I don't care" look.

With all that said, they look good, especially for quicker sketches. :D

dumb smiley... (how about :) )
Yeah, that's better.
Thanks a lot.
Although the anatomical problems aren't really something I'm concerned about here. I am annoyed with the anatomy here too, trust me. (the angle of the leftmost characters leg is still making me angry, it looks like Its broke out of its socket and left in the pant leg)
But what do you think of the designs, the clothes, hair and such?
thanks a ton for the input!
My biggest advice is to avoid stereotypes. I can already see basically how each character will act (unless you are going to be doing anti-stereotypes, where you make someone LOOK like a type of character but are really different). Also, would be nice if your two females looked like they cared more. As for the rest, I think that is more taste, so make them how YOU want them to be. Don't try pleasing others with the styles (besides the basics).
They're nice! You've got the skills, they're verry well executed, though the shading made wiht what seems to be a charcoal brush, or actual charcoal, or a soft grafite pencil, or I don't know. It looks odd. Consider darkening it in some areas where it's not dark enough or remove it. But it's a good character design, keep it!
yeah, I'm staying away from stereotypes, and I'm going to make sure they each have a very deep character.
And about the caring, I have this habit of drawing characters pupils looking to the upper left on character sheets, no idea why. The girls are very caring in the comic. :)
